EMORY — Senior running back Mandel Christian scored on two of his first three carries to lead the Rains Wildcats to a 48-0 blanking of the Community Braves Friday night in District 10-3A play.

Christian, who finished with 146 yards on seven carries, scored on first-quarter runs of 20 and 42 yards within the first five minutes of the game.

Senior running back Derek Hurst, who also kicked the extra points, followed with a 1-yard run and a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter to give Rains 23-0 halftime lead.

Wildcat quarterback Aaron Potts padded the Rains lead in the third quarter with two touchdown runs of 10 yards each. Taylor Marshall’s 9-yard run late in the period extended the Rains lead to 41-0.

The Wildcats’ final touchdown of the night came midway in the fourth quarter on Montrea Hobbs’ 5-yard run with about five minutes left to play in the game.

The Rains offense had 285 rushing yards on 35 carries. The Bulldogs’ defense limited Community to 135 yards total offense while forcing five interceptions.

Community’s B.J. Dale had 42 rushing yards on 10 carries before leaving the game in the second quarter for unknown reasons.

Rains remains undefeated in district play at 4-0 and 8-1 for the season. The Wildcats and Royse City will meet next week at Royse City to determine the district champion.
