QUINLAN — The Quinlan Ford Panthers cruised to a 62-7 non-district football win over Dallas Molina at Lytal Field on Friday night.
“We’ll take this win,” said Quinlan coach Todd Wallace, whose Panthers squared their season record at 1-1. “We go back to work on Monday. I was pleased with my defense tonight. We tackled better. Our secondary was more disciplined. Our offensive line controlled the line of scrimmage allowing us to run and pass. They opened up holes for our running backs to run through. They also helped protect our quarterback Eli Chambers.”
Chambers was 4-of-6 passing for 138 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards on seven carries, scoring on a 2-yard run. Chambers’ scoring passes went for 60 yards to Colt Cooper and 7 yards to Bryce Barber.
Ford scored on all eight of its possessions in the first half to take a 55-0 lead into halftime.
Marquizs Graham rushed for 72 yards on five carries for Ford, scoring on an 8-yard run.
Ford also collected touchdown runs of 1 yard by Bryce Barber, 1 yard by Jose Acosta, 9 yards by Santiago Salinas and a pair of 4-yard runs by Rowdy Rowan, who spelled Chambers at quarterback in the second half.
Mikey McCarter rushed for 63 yards on four carries for the Panthers and Cayson Huff piled up 53 yards on three carries.
Bryce Sandman and Kobe Jennings each caught one pass for 31 yards.
Molina scored on a 14-yard pass from Jose Lopez to Felipe Uriarte after Lopez connected with Josephat Delgado of a 66-yard completions.
Quinlan Ford, which also beat Molina 34-0 last year, will travel to Ferris on Friday to take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 in the Panthers first road game of the season.
