Quinlan Ford’s District 11-3A champion Panthers will open the state basketball playoffs at 8 tonight in Forney against Dallas Madison.

Ford, which is 17-11 for the season, captured the district title with a 7-1 record. The Panthers earned a bye with their district championship.

Dallas Madison, which is 11-16 overall, finished second in District 10-3A to No. 15 state-ranked Dallas Roosevelt.

The Trojans opened the playoffs on Tuesday night with a 68-44 bi-district victory over Royse City. Amerrius Flentory, a 5-8 junior, pumped in 23 points to lead Madison over Royse City. Chris Miller, a 6-2 junior, added nine points, as did Deterrius Felntroy, a 5-10 senior.

Madison outscored Royse City 12-4, 11-5, 16-11 and 29-24 in each of the four quarters.

Quinlan Ford has won 10 of its last 11 games, including a 52-51 victory over Pilot Point in a warmup game last Friday. Tyler Northcutt led the balanced Panthers with 13 points. Matt Deeks tossed in 11, Donald McGaugy added 10 and Casey McKay chipped in eight.
