Bradley Espino and Chase Martin slugged homers to lead the Greenville Lions to a 9-4 victory over Terrell on Friday in the Whitehouse baseball tournament.

Greenville pounded 10 hits, including a double from Dylan Potts and three hits from Trey Sorrells, who drove in three runs. Nate Smith, Trey Turner and Brian Virgel also had hits for the Lions.

“They really came together and started hitting the baseball,” said Lions coach Leo McDaniel, Jr.

Josh Robinson picked up the mound win in relief of Brian Vergel. Robinson fanned six batters in 4 2/3 innings and Virgel struck out two in 1 1/3.

Greenville also downed host Whitehouse 4-1 on Thursday after opening the tournament with a 4-1 loss to Jasper, the No. 3 ranked team in Class 3A.

Martin and Sorrells had triples to lead the Lions against Whitehouse.

Taylor Carter fired a five-hitter for Greenville, walking two and striking out seven.

Espino had a double for the Lions in the loss to Jasper.

Greenville, now 4-4 for the season, plays again at 2:30 p.m. today against either Wills Point or Jasper.
