Taylor Nicholson and James Alvarado combined on a two-hitter as the Richland Rebels squeaked out a 2-1 victory over the Greenville Lions on Tuesday night in non-district baseball.

“They had left-handed pitching going against us,” said Greenville coach Leo McDaniel, Jr. “We haven’t seen many lefties.”

Nicholson limited the Lions to only one hit through five innings while fanning seven. Alvarado also allowed only one hit while fanning three in two innings.

Travis Potter singled for the Lions and Trey Sorrells doubled and drove in a run.

Greenville pitchers Josh Robinson and Taylor Carter also combined on a two-hitter. Robinson struck out two in five innings and Carter struck out two in one inning.

The Lions, now 4-6 for the season, will travel on Friday to Dallas to face Pinkson in another non-district contest.
