WOLFE CITY — Honey Grove stayed undefeated with a 26-0 District 6-2A-I football victory over the Wolfe City Wolves at Ricky Williams Field at Don Howard Stadium on Friday.
Honey Grove running back Dometreus Pruitt rushed for 126 yards on 25 carries, scoring on runs of 15, 3 and 10 yards for the Warriors, who are now 7-0 for the season and 1-0 in district.
Dylan Wilson rushed for 115 yards on 23 carries for the 5-2 Wolves in their district opener.
“Honey Grove, give them all the credit,” said Wolfe City coach Darren Anderson. “They played well. They were the better team. We have three more district games. We have to continue to work.”
Wolfe City will travel to Bogota Rivercrest next Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Honey Grove scored first on a 55-yard pass from Hayden Stroud to Jacob Caffee with 9:13 left in the opening quarter.
Priutt’s touchdown runs of 15 and 3 yards gave Honey Grove an 18-0 halftime advantage.
Priutt’s 10-yard run with 10:21 left and Stroud’s two-point conversion pass to Colby Connelly accounted for the Warriors’ final points.
Wolfe City quarterback Amarien Jones was 4-of-6 passing for 70 yards for the Wolves. Cody Bellville caught two passes for 48 yards for Wolfe City.
Stroud was 2-of-4 passing for 70 yards.
