Letter to the Editor

Friday, August 2, 2019 was a wonderful day for news! On the front page of the Herald Banner an article by Travis Hairgrove. It announced the Inaugural Lee Street Jamboree plans.

Thank you Mayor. City of Greenville City Council and Department Heads for coming to the rescue after the Greenville Chamber of Commerce announced they would no longer support the Rally Round Greenville.

WOW, I had so enjoyed the event and thought it was one of the best events our City had.

Back when there was discussions about the City not funding the “HOT” to the Chamber it was clear to me that the Chamber would loose funding for several of their events. Well Milton Babb with the Chamber lost his job due to the cut back. Milton was the key to the “Rally Round Greenville”.

I knew there were a lot of people that attended the event from Greenville, Hunt County and form many places outside of our area.

I checked with several hotels/Motels in town and found out there were no rooms available during that event. Well I thought that was what the “HOT” money was about. “Heads in Beds”. The event was a blast.

Well I am hoping and praying that the City’s effort will have the same results. Knowing Kevin Banks and Doyle Dick they will do everything they can to make in GREAT!

Thank you again City of Greenville.

If you want to have fun join in and attend the Lee Street Jamboree, starting Friday Sept. 20, 2019.
