Letter to the Editor

My son, Jonathan Vasquez who goes by “J Rock,” is mentally disabled and has helped with the athletics program in Lone Oak school district for the past 10 years.

The couches have been very supportive of him, including former head football coaches Randy Jackson and Dean Lasseter, and more recently, head football coach Luke Goode.

Not many will take time out of their busy schedules to work with him, but Coach Goode has made him a big part of the team – making sure he matches the coaches’ name badges and even taking time to make sure J Rock had a jersey at a Special Olympics basketball game.

For that, they should get a big “thank you” and a high-five.

I’m sad to see Coach Goode go; he did good things for Lone Oak. J Rock is heartbroken.
