Letter to the Editor

I want to thank the City of Greenville for doing a phenomenal job supporting the Park Street Fourth of July parade once again this year.

Most people don’t see all the behind-the-scenes work that happens to make the parade safe and enjoyable every year, the bulk of which is done by dedicated City of Greenville employees.

This year, their task was made more difficult after massive storm damage took place just two weeks before the parade. Thanks to the city’s fast, well-organized and thorough cleanup effort, you could hardly tell what awful damage had taken place recently.

My sincere thanks to the city’s streets and parks and recreation departments for their cleanup operation ahead of the parade. Thanks to the Greenville Police Department and Greenville Fire Department, too, for making the parade safe and fun for everyone.

Your work was noticed and appreciated. I think it went a long way toward helping our community heal after the storm.
