The big questions which came up during Tuesday’s Economic Outlook Breakfast were about Rubbermaid; what happened to make the company decide to leave Greenville and what is the future of the plant?

In December, officials with Newell-Rubbermaid announced the company’s intention to shut down the Greenville plant by June, with the loss of 490 full time workers, and an unspecified number of temporary and seasonal workers.

Greenville Board of Development President and CEO Greg Sims took time to address the topic, believing the Greenville facility fell victim to a philosophy of the CEO of Newell-Rubbermaid.
