EDITOR'S NOTE: The following is an excerpt from a story that will appear in tomorrow's Herald-Banner.

The former K-Mart building on Wesley Street has been sold to a Los Angeles-based developer who will likely re-configure the space to house several retail tenants.

“The final paperwork will be completed no later than Friday,” said Realtor Terry Driggers, who handled the transaction for the Century 21 Patterson Agency. The property has been on the market about three years.

“It has been a long time coming, as we all know, but I believe this means some good things are about to happen there,” Driggers said. “I think we’ll see a shopping center and, possibly, an additional building on a pad site.”
