A man who survived being shot multiple times last week is expected to return home to Greenville this week.

Officials with the Greenville Police Department are still searching for clues as to how and why the shooting occurred.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot as many as five times during a Thursday night disturbance on Sayle Street, before being transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Lt. William Cole with the Criminal Investigations Division said the individual was scheduled to be released from the hospital either Tuesday or today.

The shooting was reported to have occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Sayle and Briscoe Streets. Officers were dispatched to the location to find that a man had been shot in the street and transported by a private vehicle to Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. The individual was later transferred to Parkland.

Cole was among the detectives who were on the scene until early the next morning, attempting to determine the circumstances behind the shooting, although witness accounts were said to have conflicted with one another.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is being asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 903-457-2904, the police dispatch line at 903-457-2900 or Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.

Those who provide tips to Crime Stoppers are allowed to remain anonymous and are given a code number when they call in, which they can then use to claim a possible reward once an arrest is made.
