Planning & Zoning

At the next Greenville Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21, its members will elect a new chairman.

The need to select a new person to helm P&Z came after previous chairman Chet Haney resigned from the commission after being nominated for the board of development.

In addition to having to elect a new chairman, P&Z now has two vacancies to fill after the resignations of Haney, Place 2, and Cheston Henry, Place 6.

The two new representatives for Places 2 and 6 will be appointed by the Greenville City Council at their meeting this Tuesday.

Greenville residents wishing to serve on the P&Z commission can apply for one of the vacant positions online at or fill out an application at the city secretary’s office in the Greenville Municipal Building at 2821 Washington St.

Appointees should be residents of the City of Greenville, unless the requirement is waived by the City Council.

They must also be a registered voter and should not be party to litigation against the city. Applicants should also be current on all taxes and utilities.
