Legendary football coach Gene Stallings will be the guest speaker Tuesday for a regional meeting of the Texas County Tax Assessors/Collectors Association at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center in Greenville.
Stallings is expected to speak beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The public is invited to attend.
The Hunt County Tax Assessor/Collector’s Office will be closed between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, to allow employees to attend the conference.
Stallings, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in December, began his coaching career with the Texas A&M Aggies in 1965, and won a national championship with Alabama in 1992.
He coached professionally for 18 years as an assistant to Tom Landry and the Dallas Cowboys and as head coach of the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals for four seasons.
Stallings is the winner of multiple awards, including various coaching and humanitarian honors. He is the author of the book, “Another Season,” which describes his love for his son, John Mark Stallings, who was born with Down’s syndrome and who died in 2008.
