Hunt County’s next big blockbusters will be unveiled in downtown Greenville this week, as entries are being submitted for the 11th anniversary Bras For The Cause.

Anyone who has created a bra for the event, which features the theme of “Hooray For Brallywood,” can turn them in between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. today at Landon Winery in downtown Greenville. Voting is now underway online.

This year’s Bras For The Cause, scheduled starting at 6 p.m. Thursday is expected to  pass the $1 million mark in contributions since the event’s inception in 2008. The event benefits the Hunt Regional Healthcare Foundation.

The 10th anniversary Bras For the Cause in October, 2018 collected $169,365 toward funding of the installation of a 4D CT Scanner Simulator at the Jack & Lou Finney Cancer Center.

Bras For the Cause has pledged to spend the proceeds from 2017, 2018  and up to three more annual events toward funding the more than $500,000 cost of the device.

As of last year, the effort had already raised almost $340,000 toward the goal.

Hundreds of people reviewed 120 elaborately decorated bras entered in the 2019 Bras For The Cause, displayed at multiple locations along Lee Street. Those attending the event were able to purchase votes at $1 each, to support their favorite entries.

The 4D CT Scanner Simulator is designed to target a tumor during radiation treatment, focusing the radiation on the tumor itself as it moves during the treatment and reducing the impact on surrounding tissues.

During the ninth annual event in October, 2017 Bras For The Cause collected $170,000,  smashing the previous record of $113,725 set in 2016.
