Expect a lot of red, white and blue at the Greenville SportsPark today, as the City of Greenville and L-3 Communications Mission Integration host the Patriotic Picnic for the July 4 holiday.

The day includes live music, a pie eating contest, sack and three-legged races and, of course, the largest fireworks display in Hunt County.

Events begin early this morning with the Firecracker 5K run. Sign-up and registration begins at 7 a.m. and the run begins at 8 a.m.

Gates for the picnic open at noon, the same time the vendors set up and washer pitch and volleyball games begin. Registration also opens for the 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

The schedule for the rest of the day includes:

1 p.m. — 3-on-3 Basketball Open for Play

2 p.m. — Music by Stereo Time

3:30 p.m. — Music by Landon Moser

4 p.m. — Face Painters Open

4:30 p.m. — Sack Races

5 p.m. — Music by Dusty Creek Band

6:30 p.m. — Pie Eating Contest Begins (Register for the pie eating contest at the Just Pies booth)

7 p.m. — Music by Halloway

8 p.m. — 3-Legged Races

8:30 p.m. — Concert by John David Kent and the Dumb Angels

9:15 p.m. — Fireworks Begin

9:35 p.m. — Encore Performance by: John David Kent and the Dumb Angels
