A Friday morning high-speed chase in south Hunt County resulted in the rider of a stolen vehicle crashing near the Boles ISD campus and being taken into custody.

Officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and additional agencies were involved in the chase.

DPS Sgt. Kyle Bradford said the incident began At about 11:15 a.m. Friday as Highway Patrol Troopers attempted to stop a stolen 2008 Orange and Black Suzuki Motorcycle traveling south on Hunt County Road 2276.

“The Preliminary investigation indicates the operator of the Suzuki chose to evade troopers and made multiple attempts to retrieve a handgun while traveling on several different county roads, streets and FM roads in Hunt County,” Bradford said. “The operator of the motorcycle crashed at approximately 11:40 a.m. near the intersection of FM 2101 and State Highway 34.”

The suspect was arrested and transported to Hunt Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Bradford said the investigation into the pursuit was ongoing as of press time. The name of the suspect was not immediately released, pending his arraignment on any charges filed in the incident, likely Saturday morning.
