When Lynda Gilmartin told her sister over the phone that all she wanted for Christmas was donations to the public library, she had no idea that her statement would result in one Commerce child donating every dollar he received for Christmas presents to the library.

Amy Doster, Lynda’s caregiver, overheard her conversation and mentioned it to her 13 year-old son, Ethan, who attends Commerce Middle School.

“He didn’t know that it was in trouble,” Amy said. “He said he wanted whatever I was going to spend on him for Christmas to be donated to the Commerce Public Library.”
