A local man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated assault, in connection with a reported shooting in Greenville in December.
Daniel Lee Greensage III, 25, of Greenville, was indicted by the Hunt County grand jury in May on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Greensage entered the not guilty plea during an arraignment hearing Monday in the 196th District Court. Judge Steve Tittle accepted the plea and scheduled an interim hearing for Aug. 10. Tittle also set bond for Greensage at $75,000 cash or surety.
Greensage was alleged to have used a firearm to shoot another man on Dec. 10, 2010. He was arrested by the Greenville Police Department four days later.
The indictment listed a previous felony conviction, for possession of a controlled substance, from Hunt County in 2009.
Aggravated assault is a second degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 20 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
