Work on the State Highway 34/Wesley Street overpass across Interstate 30 will require additional lane closures starting Friday.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation’s contractor on the project, Austin Bridge and Road, single daytime lane closures are expected on westbound Interstate 30 at State Highway 34 when columns and caps for the new bridge are poured. A lane closure will be necessary between Friday and June 24 to accommodate the crane set up for this work. Additional lane closures are expected during the second week of July for pouring the caps.
TxDOT has said no eastbound lane closures are anticipated at the location. The contractor plans to set beams for the new bridge by the end of July and to pour the bridge deck in August. The latest estimated date to open the new State Highway 34/Wesley Street bridge to traffic is mid-September 2011. The current two-lane operation of State Highway 34/Wesley Street over Interstate 30 will continue until the new bridge can be completed.
