The Salvation Army Hunt County Service Center in Greenville is already looking ahead to the holidays, as the agency is accepting applications for Bell Ringers and seeking volunteers to assist with upcoming Christmas programs.

The Salvation Army Hunt County Service Center in Greenville is already looking ahead to the holidays, as the agency is accepting applications for Bell Ringers and seeking volunteers to assist with upcoming Christmas programs.

Applications for Christmas assistance will be accepted starting later this month.

The center began taking applications for Bell Ringers on Oct. 1 and will receive applications for the first round through Nov.15. Applications will continue to be accepted until Dec. 24 to fill any positions that open.

The annual Red Kettle Fundraiser will officially run from Friday, Nov.29 until Tuesday, Dec. 24. The National Kettle Kick Off is scheduled during the halftime show of the Thanksgiving Day Dallas Cowboys football game.

Volunteer Applications are being accepted for those interested in assisting us with Christmas programs including the Kettle Fundraiser, Angel Tree programs for children and seniors, and Christmas Toy Shop.

Applications for Christmas Assistance, including Angel Tree Programs for children and seniors and Christmas Toy Shop, are scheduled as follows:

October 14 – 19 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday

October 21-26 from  5 until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until noon Saturday.

October 28 – November 2 from 9 a.m. -2 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday

November 4 – 9 from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. until noon Saturday.

Applicants will need to bring a government issued picture ID for applying adult, and birth certificates for all children 16 and under. There will be no accept ions.

Angel Trees will placed in the community Nov.29-Dec.14 and the Christmas Assistance Distribution will take place the week of Dec. 16.

The Salvation Army Hunt County Service Center office is open 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Monday – Friday and is providing the following services subject to availability:

—  Chips Giveaway on Tuesdays

— Perishable Food Giveaway on Fridays (produce, bread, etc.)

— Day Packs (non-perishable sack lunch style meal and bottled water) to the homeless

— Cold bottled water to the homeless

— Cold Weather Packs (hat, gloves, scarf, socks, and hand warmer packs) to the homeless

— Hygiene Packs (Male & Female) to the homeless

— Bus Tokens

— Family Food Baskets

— Family Hygiene Packets

— Baby Care Packets – Infant (diapers, wipies, formula, baby shampoo, lotion, powder, pacifiers)

— Baby Care Packets – Toddler (pull-ups, wipies, baby shampoo, baby lotion, pacifiers)

— First Aid Packs (10 Band-Aids and 10 alcohol swabs)

— Emergency Overnight Lodging

— Community Assessment Program (assistance referral)

— Summer Camp (The Salvation Army Camp - Camp Hoblitzelle)

— Community Care Program (Bingo at community Nursing Homes)

—  Disaster Services

The center intends to offer Financial Assistance — one time rent/mortgage, water, gas/propane, electric payment per year — as soon as the funds are distributed and received.
