Make someone smile

Angela Franklin, left, and Luanne Dickens with Greenville Floral & Gifts are preparing to deliver hundreds of Be Happy Bouquets during Make Someone Smile Week.

A local florist will be helping to bring smiles to hundreds of residents in area nursing facilities this month.

The staff of Greenville Floral & Gifts and members of the Greenville Altrusa Club are preparing bouquets for the 19th annual Teleflora “Make Someone Smile Week” July 21 through July 27.

Florists volunteer their time to create and deliver the widely popular Be Happy Bouquets to those most in need of a smile — such as senior citizens living in nursing homes and assisted living homes.

Greenville Floral florist delivered 420 arrangements in 2017 and close to 500 bouquets last year.

It will be the sixth year Greenville Floral has participated in the event.

The arrangements feature bright yellow and white daisies or green plants and will be delivered to Greenville Health & Rehab, Briarcliff, Colonial Lodge, Legends and Harrison House.

In a press release, Teleflora announced local florists and volunteers will deliver more than 30,000 mugs this year.
