An investigation is underway into the death of a local man who was found submerged in Municipal Reservoir No. 4 Sunday afternoon.
The Greenville Police Department issued a statement indicating it received a report at 12:13 p.m. Sunday that Oscar Mondragon, 20, of Greenville was missing from the 4200 block of Morrison Street.
It was reported that Mondragon, had not been seen or heard from since leaving the residence around 4 a.m. Sunday.
At 1:42 p.m. Sunday, officers located a body submerged in the water at Reservoir No. 4, located at 4200 Power Lane.
The body was positively identified as Mondragon and family members were notified.
An investigation was initiated in the circumstances surrounding the death and an autopsy was ordered. No further information is available at this time, according to the statement.
The Greenville FFA Facebook page posted a notice Sunday, indicating Mondragon was a 2017 graduate of Greenville High School and a Greenville FFA officer.
“Oscar was an amazing young man, very active in Greenville FFA, and I am blessed to have been part of his high school career,” the post read.
