Last year, grown men dressed as babies and entered a “cutest baby” contest. The year before that, they entered a “beauty” contest. So there’s no telling what type of contest it will be this year.

The Third Annual Comedy Talent?? Showcase is scheduled April 8, at Greenville High School. The event is hosted by the Special Olympics Booster Club, and this is the main fundraiser of the year.

Proceeds will go towards transportation for athletes to the summer, fall and winter games.

A complete barbecue dinner will be prepared by the Texas Game Warden Association. A comedy talent show featuring local talent and Special Olympic Athletes will be held after the dinner.

Tickets go on sale March 10 and are available at The Mane Grind, Patterson Agency and the Teacher’s Credit Union, or by calling 903-456-0270 or 903-456-4119.

Dinner begins at 6 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, and the comedy show begins at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Tickets are $15 for dinner and a reserved seat at the show. There are a limited number of dinner tickets. Show tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the door. Children under 5 are admitted free.

“Some local talent, and some not so good talent, will be participating in the show this year,” said event coordinator Rick Kohn. “It will be a night of great food, lots of laughs and a very exciting night for all our athletes.

“Some of the talent skits will include prominent business leaders who are always willing to make a fool of themselves, and all for a good cause.”
