Corsicana-based Collin Street Bakery has closed its bakeshop on Interstate Highway 30 in Greenville, according to a representative of the company.
“We built on a location that held great promise of future activity, that just never materialized for us,” said Hayden Crawford, bakery partner and marketing chief.
Crawford said, though the other stores and mail order business saw an increase in sales last year, Greenville continued to trend downward into the red, year after year.
“We have offered all Greenville staff jobs at our other locations with hopes these fine folks will take us up on that,” Crawford said. “It is our goal to sell, lease or rent this beautiful space to some interested party, but needed to stop the bleeding for the health of our company overall. I know this decision comes as a shock to many, and a sudden surprise to all. But we had been concerned for years. We did not take this step lightly, and in fact, prayed on it for a very long time.”
The bakery still owns and operates four Texas locations including two in Corsicana, one on Interstate Highway 35 in Waco and one on Interstate 20 in Lindale.
