Two area teenagers who had been reported missing last month have been located and are safe.
The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday that Brian Cox and Michael Pina had been found.
The sheriff’s office sent out a press release Jan. 22, asking for the public’s assistance to locate Cox and Pina, who had voluntarily walked away from the Thompson Residential Treatment Center in the 1900 block of FM 1564 East.
Deputies responded to the facility at around 4:30 p.m. Jan. 5 and took two runaway reports for Cox and Pina and entered them in the TCIC/NCIC database.
Sheriff’s investigators were informed Cox has a medical condition that requires daily medication.
Tuesday’s press release said the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services notified the sheriff’s office Monday that both subjects were located and instructed the agency to remove them as missing persons.
No additional details were provided.
“I am thankful that these two young men have been located safe and I want to thank all of our media partners for getting the word out so quickly,” Sheriff Randy Meeks said.
