Blumhouses’s Fantasy Island – Guests’ fantasies turn into nightmares in supernatural horror film.

BLUMHOUSE’S FANTASY ISLAND:

The supernatural horror film begins with the original premise of the “Fantasy Island” television series. However, this time the guests’ fantasies turn into nightmares as they are required to solve a mystery in order to survive and leave the island. Michael Pena portrays Mr. Roarke.

DOWNHILL:

Acclaimed foreign film “Force Majueure” (2014) serves as the basis for remake “Downhill,” a comedy/drama written and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash. Julia Louis Dreyfuss and Will Ferrell play American married couple Billie and Pete Staunton who are on a ski vacation in the Alps with their son and daughter. After an avalanche occurs, everything changes for the Stauntons.   

THE PHOTOGRAPH:

hile going through her deceased photographer mother’s safety deposit box, Mae (Issa Rae) discovers a photograph which causes her to attempt to learn more about her mother. LaKeith Stanfield plays journalist Michael Block in a romantic drama written and directed by Stella Meghie.

THE CALL OF THE WILD:

Jack London’s classic 1903 novel comes to the screen with Harrison Ford as John Thornton, Dan Stevens as Hal, Karen Gillan as Mercedes and Bradley Whitford as Judge Miller. In the Yukon during 1890, St. Bernard/Scotch Collie Buck goes on an adventure with Thornton. Buck is a CGI animation based on an actual dog.

THE INVISIBLE MAN:

The psychological horror feature was written and directed by horror master Leigh Whannell (“Saw,” “Insidious,” “Upgrade”). Set in the present and loosely based on H.G. Wells futuristic novel “The Invisible Man,” the movie stars Elisabeth Moss as Cecilia Kass and Oliver Jackson-Cohen as Adrian Griffin.

ONWARD:

The Disney Pixar computer animated feature follows teen elf brothers Ian (the voice of Tom Holland) and Barley Lightfoot (Chris Pratt) who have an enchanted staff which will allow them to reunite with their dead father for 24 hours. Julia Louis-Dreyfuss is the voice of Laurel Lightfoot, and Octavia Spencer portrays manticore Corey.

THE WAY BACK:

Ben Affleck is Jack Cunningham, a former high school basketball star who gave up the sport even though he had a college scholarship. Many years later, after Jack suffers a terrible loss and descends into alcoholism, he is offered the job of coaching at his alma mater.

BLOODSHOT:

Vin Diesel is Valiant Comics character Ray Garrison/Bloodshot. After being killed in battle, Ray is brought back to life through futuristic technology. As Bloodshot, he has superhuman strength and the ability to heal. He sets out to find his wife’s killer.

A QUIET PLACE PART II:

Writer and director John Krasinski follows the phenomenally successful horror thriller “A Quiet Place” (2018) with a sequel starring original cast members Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbot and Millicent Simonds and Noah Jupe as her children Regan and Marcus. Cillian Murphy portrays Emmett.

MULAN:

Liu Yifei portrays warrior Hua Mulan in the live action adaptation of the 1998 animated film “Mulan.” The girl disguises herself as a man and enlists in the Chinese Imperial Army so that her father will not have to serve. The cast includes Gong Li as a shapeshifting witch, Jet Li as the Emperor of China, Jason Scott Lee as a Hun warrior and Rosalind Chou as Mulan’s mother.
