ORIGINAL ARTICLE: A Tuesday morning attempt to arrest an individual wanted in connection with a reported homicide in the Dallas area ended with the suspect barricading himself inside a Greenville apartment before allegedly taking his own life.

The Greenville Police Department issued a statement Tuesday afternoon, indicating it had received information about a homicide suspect from Dallas that was possibly hiding in the Greenville area.

Members of the department, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S Marshals Office responded to the Crossroads Apartments at 2900 Robin Road to attempt to serve an arrest warrant on Rashad Warren for murder.

Warren was reported to have barricaded himself inside an apartment a short time after officers arrived.

At about 12:30 p.m., officers heard what sounded like a muffled gunshot and at around 1:15 p.m., entry was made into the apartment. Officers located Warren inside the apartment with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A justice of the peace was contacted, and an autopsy was ordered.

The investigation was said to be ongoing as of Tuesday evening and no additional details were immediately available.

A check of local records did not reveal any arrests or convictions for Warren in Hunt County.
