If you want to have fun in downtown Greenville, once in a while you have to take the backstreet.
The annual Backstreet Bash, sponsored by Turtle Creek Veterinary Medical Center, is scheduled Saturday and is centered on Jordan Street, the back street behind Lee Street. The Bash is designed to offer music, arts and crafts and fun for humans , as well as their four-legged friends.
The “Hot Diggity Dog Jog 5K ~ Gettin’ Jiggy for Pet Cancer Awareness” is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., with the Hot Diggity Dog Jog 1 Mile race set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
The popular “Running Of The Wieners” weenie dog races are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
The “Strut Your Mutt” dog show is set to begin at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
There will also be Kids BarkART on display all day, numerous pet related vendors, displays from animal rescue organizations, a petting zoo and pony rides.
There will be live music provided throughout the day Saturday, with the lineup including various local artists, The Bryant Hill Band, The Blandelles and a karaoke contest.
Greenville Police Robert Pemberton and his canine partner Rex, along with other Hunt County Officers and their K9 partners, will be offering demonstrations of skills and obedience through drug detection and protection drills.
