Running as a Democratic challenger to incumbent and Heath resident John Ratcliffe (R) is a political unknown from Emory, Texas: Catherine Krantz. Also on the ballot is Libertarian Ken Ashby.

Ratcliffe served eight years as mayor of Heath and was a U.S. Attorney from 2007 to 2008. Prior to that position he served as Chief of Anti-Terrorism and National Security for the Eastern District of Texas, from 2004 to 2007. Learn more about Ratcliffe here.

Krantz is an entrepreneur and publisher with 20 years of experience in economic development. "I know we have more in common with each other than with the career politicians who represent us and I know we all want what’s best for our communities," she writes on her website.
