Republican incumbents, including a district judge and the district attorney, have been the first to file for re-election to offices in Hunt County, while several newcomers are lining up for upcoming Hunt County Attorney and Constable vacancies.

The current edition of the Hunt County grand jury is scheduled to meet again Friday and may hear evidence in an intoxication manslaughter incident and a second suspect charged with sexual assault of a child and trafficking, in addition to other cases.

A hearing is scheduled this week, as attorneys for a suspect charged in a reported double homicide near Commerce more than three years ago is seeking to have the capital murder indictment dismissed.

Students and staff with the Greenville Independent School District took some time to honor the sacrifices made by veterans at the district’s annual Veterans Day program Monday.

The public is invited to attend the Lakes Regional Community Center’s annual art and photography exhibition from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center. The awards from the juried show will take place at 7 p.m.

An agency dedicated to supporting domestic violence victims in Hunt and Rockwall counties is hoping to make sure a few dozen area families are able to enjoy a special dinner this holiday season.
