The Paris Junior College Greenville Center will offer a wide selection of seminars and classes for small business owners and anyone interested in starting a small business, according to SBDC Director Pat Bell.

How to Start Your Own Business will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10. Learn what it takes to start and operate a small business at this free session.

This session will be held at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce located at 2713 Stonewall. An additional session is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, August 21 at the PJC Greenville Center.

A QuickBooks business accounting class will meet from 1 to 5 p.m., each Wednesday, Aug. 12 through Sept. 2. Participants should have computer experience and basic accounting skills. This class will meet at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

How to Select, Research, and Buy a Franchise will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21. This free seminar is designed for those who are considering business or franchise ownership. Topics will include an introduction to franchising; cost of ownership and funding options; type of franchises available at different investment levels; an entry strategy for today’s economy; the franchise disclosure document; finding the right business, and the four step research plan.

Government Contracting 101 offers the basics of government contracting at the federal, state, and local level. Trainers help remove the intimidation factor, confusion and complexity, and show how to succeed in government contracting. The session will meet from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 28. This free seminar will show what lenders want to see in a business plan; what is a pro forma financial statement; what collateral is needed and what will lenders accept as collateral for a business loan. These and many more questions about borrowing money to start or expand a business will be answered in this informative seminar.
