Quinlan superintendent hosting seminar

QUINLAN — Micheal French, superintendent of Quinlan Independent School District, will be hosting “Educating the Educator” inside the Terrell Performing Arts Center tonight in Terrell at 6:30 p.m.

“This is not a political forum but a public awareness forum,” he said. “We owe it to our employees, teachers, citizens and taxpayors to inform them on issues on public education that will affect them.”

According to French, this is a chance for citizens to hear the truth about what public education is facing.

“I believe that public education is under attack from several areas,” he said. “We want to tell the truth about Texas public schools and give factual evidence on our case.”

Scott Milder, president of Friends of Texas Public Schools, Dr. David Anthony, of Raise Your Hands Texas, and Thomas Ratliff, a member of the State Board of Education, will speak on topics from Texas public schools and school vouchers, and discuss if high-stakes testing is good for students.

Blake Cooper, superintendent of Commerce Independent School District, will also speak during the event.
