Three indicted for BB gun vandalism

GREENVILLE — Three Hunt County men have learned that BB guns can cause a lot of damage.

In fact, they have been indicted on charges they caused tens of thousands of dollars in destruction for allegedly firing on dozens of local homes and vehicles in November 2012.

Colten Dewayne Miller, 18, of Greenville; Charles Austin Stanphill, 19, of Greenville; and Treavor Blaine Wood, 20, of Wolfe City were each indicted by the Hunt County grand jury Friday on one count of criminal mischief in the amount of more than $20,000, but less than $100,000.

The indictment alleges the three fired a BB gun at a total of 68 residential or vehicle windows, at Greenville automobile dealership and at property owned by Lakes Regional MHMR on Nov. 13, 2012.

According to a report from the Greenville Police Department, a resident in the 600 block of Center Point Lane indicated someone had shot the glass out of her vehicle. The resident was able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle. Officers responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the description, occupied by the three defendants.

Officers conducted their investigation and determined that a BB gun was used to break the windows of vehicles in various neighborhoods in Greenville.

Officers met and interviewed victims of the spree throughout the next day.
