Volunteers needed Saturday for Grundy Cemetery clean-up

GREENVILLE — Volunteers are needed for an effort at cleaning up and maintaining an African American cemetery in Hunt County.

The first clean up event at Grundy Cemetery, 7116 State Highway 224, was curtailed by rain before it could be completed on October 5.

The Friends of Grundy Cemetery organization is now seeking volunteers to return to the cemetery between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday in order to finish the job.

The Friends of Grundy Cemetery are planning to do clean ups twice a year, in April and October, with refreshments to be provided.

Anyone interested in assisting with the project can call Johnnie Barrett at 972-302-5510.
