Two county incumbents file for re-election

Two incumbent candidates have filed their campaigns for reelection, in search of nominations from the Hunt County Democratic Party.

A second candidate filed Wednesday, seeking the Republican nomination in the State Senate District 2 race in the 2014 primary election.

Hunt County Democratic Party Chairman Smith Gilley said Wednesday that Jim Latham has filed for Hunt County Commissioner for Precinct 4 and Jennifer Reeves had filed for Hunt County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2.

Filing for the March 4, 2014 Democratic and Republican Party primaries began continues through Dec. 9.

Candidates seeking an office in a particular county file with their respective county Democratic or Republican Party offices. Candidates whose jurisdiction covers multiple counties file with the state party offices.

Next year, Hunt County voters will be casting ballots for congress, state senate, state representative, county judge, 196th district court, district clerk, county court at law No. 1, county clerk, county commissioners in precincts 2 and 4, justices of the peace and constables.

Jerry Minter has filed seeking the Republican Party nomination in the race for Hunt County Judge; Timothy Linden filed for the GOP nomination for County Court at Law No. 1; Incumbent County Clerk Jennifer Lindenzweig had filed for the Republican Party nomination in seeking reelection to the post; Incumbent Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Place 2 Sheila Linden will be facing Wayne Gilmore in the GOP primary next March; and incumbent Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Aaron Williams filed for the seat in the Republican Party primary.

Mark Thompson of Mesquite has filed for the Republican Party nomination for State Senate District 2, where he will be facing Incumbent State Senator Bob Deuell of Greenville.
