UPDATE: Still no identification of body recovered from Municipal Reservoir

GREENVILLE — As of Sunday afternoon, the identity of the man whose body was found Saturday on City of Greenville Municipal Reservoir No. 4, had not yet been determined.

The Greenville Police Department is investigating an apparent drowning death on the City of Greenville municipal reservoir system.

City of Greenville Public Relations Liaison Autumn Barton said a man’s body was discovered shortly before noon Saturday on Municipal Reservoir No. 4. Police officers, members of the Greenville Fire Rescue Department and a game warden with the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife retrieved the body later in the day. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Wayne Money and the body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

“There is no idea as to how long he had been in the water,” Barton said.

Barton said an unidentified caller notified the police department about the body at 11:51 a.m. Saturday. The victim had not been identified as of Saturday night and carried no identification.

“We do not have any reports of missing persons that seem to match up,” Barton said. “We don’t who it could be.”

The reservoir was also the scene of the June 11, 2012 death of 3 year-old Ledaro Micky of Greenville. Micky was on a fishing trip with hs family when he fell into the water in a pond near a culvert next to the GEUS power plant at the reservoir. Earlier this year the parents sued the city and the utility, claiming a current under the waters of Municipal Reservoir No. 4 posed “an unreasonable risk of harm.” The suit is currently pending and no trial date has been set.
