GREENVILLE — A Hunt County man has pleaded not guilty to multiple indictments alleging he sexually assaulted a girl between late 2013 and early this year.

Phillip Dewayne Cockrum, 19, who has listed a Wills Point address in southern Hunt County, received 10 indictments from the Hunt County grand jury in February, each of which contained one count of sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child.

Cockrum pleaded not guilty to all charges during an arraignment hearing Monday in the 196th District Court. Judge Steve Tittle accepted the pleas and scheduled an interim hearing for April 21.

The indictments alleged Cockrum sexually assaulted a female victim of less than 17 years of age on 10 separate occasions between December 9, 2013 and January 16.

Cockrum was 18 during most of alleged incidents, having turned 19 on January 15.

The charges were filed as second degree felonies, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 20 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
