It takes a significant amount of money to look good while playing the trumpet and marching.
The Greenville Independent School District Board of Trustees is scheduled this week to make an investment in music education, by approving the purchase of new uniforms for the Greenville High School Band.
The vote is included as part of Tuesday’s regular agenda, starting at 6 p.m. in the Wesley Martin Administration Building, 4004 Moulton Street.
Any single purchase exceeding $25,000 requires the board’s approval.
The board is scheduled to approve a purchase of 120 complete band uniforms, at a cost of $47,000, from Fruhauf Uniforms, Inc. of Wichita Kansas.
The current budget included $40,000 for the purchase of new uniforms.
Delivery of the uniforms is expected to take between 120-150 days, which means they should arrive in time for use by the fall semester.
