City lot goes unsold

GREENVILLE — Apparently no one was interested in buying a tract of property in the northern part of Greenville.

The City of Greenville had advertised it would accept sealed bids for a one acre vacant lot at the southeast corner of Sockwell Boulevard and Wright Street.

The lot, across Wright Street from the North Baptist Church, is currently zoned commercial and was being sold “as is”, with a minimum bid of $12,500.

The parcel is at the very north end of Wright Street and is included in what some maps refer to as the former “Jones Park” in Greenville.

City officials said they were responding to a request from someone who indicated they were considering purchasing the property.

But when it came time to open the bids Friday afternoon, it was discovered no one had submitted any.

It was unknown Friday whether the lot will be put up for sale again.
