Sheriff seeking stabbing suspect

GREENVILLE — Authorities were searching Tuesday for a suspect wanted in connection with an early Monday morning stabbing which left one man hospitalized.

Sheriff Randy Meeks said deputies were dispatched at around 1:10 a.m. to a call of a possible stabbing in the Walnut Cove area in south Hunt County. Upon arrival, the officers discovered a 23 year old male victim with a stab wound to the back. The victim was transported by Air Evac to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday.

The suspect was described as a heavy set subject wearing all black clothing who was said to have fled into the tree line on the north side of the Walnut Cove bridge. Meeks said no other description was given. Deputies checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect.

“We believe that this was an isolated incident and our investigation is still continuing,” Meeks said. “Anyone that possibly saw someone in that area that night or might know of someone in that area that fits the description of our suspect, call contact the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office at 903-453-6800 or the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office South Command Post at 903-447-2408.”
