Filings begin for 2014 primaries

GREENVILLE — Multiple candidates have formally launched their campaigns, seeking the Republican Party nomination for Hunt County offices and one state office in the 2014 primary.

Filing for the March 4, 2014 Republican and Democratic Party primaries began Saturday with the last day to file set on December 9. No Democrats had reportedly filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

Candidates seeking an office in a particular county file with their respective county Democratic or Republican Party offices. Candidates whose jurisdiction covers multiple counties file with the state party offices.

Next year, Hunt County voters will be casting ballots for congress, state senate, state representative, county judge, 196th district court, district clerk, county court at law No. 1, county clerk, county commissioners in precincts 2 and 4, justices of the peace and constables.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Jerry Minter had filed seeking the Republican Party nomination in the race for Hunt County Judge; Timothy Linden had filed for the GOP nomination for County Court at Law No. 1; Incumbent County Clerk Jennifer Lindenzweig had filed for the Republican Party nomination in seeking reelection to the post; Incumbent Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Place 2 Sheila Linden will be facing Wayne Gilmore in the GOP primary next March, as both have filed seeking the party’s nomination; and incumbent Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Aaron Williams also filed for the Republican Party’s nod.

Incumbent State Senator for District 2 Bob Deuell of Greenville had filed for the Republican nomination, as he seeks reelection to the position.
