A well-attended Halloween party

GREENVILLE — The streets of downtown Greenville were filled with zombies, werewolves and vampires Thursday evening, but there wasn’t any panic, as there were plenty of Captain Americas, Iron Men, Supermen and Batmen on patrol to keep things safe, during the 14th annual Halloween on the Square.

The City of Greenville, along with Hunt County, DrugFree Greenville and downtown merchants again hosted the event, which brought hundreds of children to trick or treat along Lee, Stonewall, Washington and Johnson Streets bordering the Hunt County Courthouse Square.

There was plenty of candy, free popcorn, cotton candy and $1 hot dogs to keep even the Walking Dead fans stuffed, while others danced to the rock and roll music provided by The Blandelles, checked out the bounce house or entered the costume contests.

The Greenville High School Robowranglers demonstrated their newest, disc-throwing robot and passed out stuffed animals to the children.

The Halloween on the Square, along with the Tricycle Parade at the L.P. Waters Early Childhood Center earlier in the day Friday, helped serve as the finale of DrugFree Greenville’s Red Ribbon Month activities.
