Clothe A Child will be using a new registration system for Greenville Independent School District students in their efforts to provide clothing to local students in need.
In the past, families have been selected by teachers and counselors at GISD.
“This year, we’re holding registration events,” event organizer Evan Manskey said. “The registration events will be held at the Boys & Girls Club (Reecy Davis Center) and Crossroads Mall.”
Registration will be held on today from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Any student at GISD is eligible to register and must bring some proof of enrollment (report card, class schedule, etc.).
Families will receive $50 to purchase clothing at Walmart during a shopping event, held on Dec. 3 and 4 from 5:30 to 7:30 a.m.
Clothe A Child also serves Commerce, Celeste, Greenville Phoenix and ECI, but those schools still select families.
Families that are selected will be notified at a later date. Please note, a parent, guardian, or close adult relative must be present in order for children to be allowed to shop.
There will be no make-up days or times. Parents are asked not register if they and their children will be unable to shop on Dec. 3 and 4, 2013. Each child that is selected to shop must be present on shopping day. Registration does not guarantee selection.
