The Greenville City Council is expected tonight to appoint an interim city manager.
The Council is scheduled to convene during a special session starting at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street. The Council intends first to move into executive session under Section 551.074 of the Local Government Code, which allows the Council “to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee; or to hear a complaint or charge against an officer or employee”, which included a discussion of the appointment of an interim city manager, before returning to regular session to announce the appointment.
The Counci voted May 14 to terminate the contract of Steven Alexander, who had served as city manager since 2007.
