Two indicted for aggravated robbery

GREENVILLE — A local man and a man from Harris County have been indicted by the Hunt County grand jury on armed robbery charges.

The grand jury returned the indictments during its monthly session Friday against Courtney Dewayne Jackson and Gary Barnett Davidson. The current grand jury has two more months in its term, which runs through June.

Jackson, 24, of Greenville, received one indictment for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Jackson was alleged in the indictment to have used a pistol to threaten a female victim while in the course of committing a theft on January 23. Jackson remained in custody at the Hunt County Jail on the charge as of Friday morning.

Gary Barnett Davidson, 22, of Pasadena, Texas was also indicted on one count of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Davidson was alleged in the indictment to have threatened an employee of the Walmart in Quinlan with a pocket knife while in the course of committing theft on March 25. Davidson was also still in custody at the Hunt County Jail as of Friday.

Aggravated robbery is a first degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from five to 99 years to life in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.

Arraignment dates for Jackson and Davidson have not yet been scheduled.
