Fox Fest scheduled

CADDO MILLS — The City of Caddo Mills has a thing about foxes.

The Caddo Mills Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual Fox Fest celebration all day Saturday, and it will be a good place to take in a run, catch some dressed up pets, view some speedy turtles and vintage fashions, or enjoy some barbecue served up by local firefighters.

The events begin with the 5K Fox Trot and a one mile fun run. Vendor booths will be opening at 10 a.m., even as the Caddo Mills Historical Society presents its displays of local artifacts. The annual  hot dog eating contest starts at 11:30 a.m., turtle races are scheduled for 1 p.m., a Best-Dressed Pet contest is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday and the Historical Society will be presenting a Vintage Style Show at 2 p.m. Saturday. Live entertainment will be featured throughout the day and the festivities also include bounces houses, food and more.

Speaking of food, the Caddo Mills Fire/Rescue Department will be serving barbecue at the fire station starting at 11 a.m. Saturday. The department is also conducting a raffle for a crossbow, with tickets $5 each or five for $20 available from any fire department member.
