Suspect vehicle sought in fatal hit and run

GREENVILLE — Law enforcement authorities are searching for a vehicle which may have been involved in a weekend hit and run fatality crash in West Tawakoni.

A memorial service is scheduled this afternoon for Jackie Lynn Blaylock, 37, of Quinlan, a mother of two whose body was found early Sunday morning, according to West Tawakoni Police Chief Brandon Kilpatrick.

Kilpatrick said Officer Barbara Peacock was on patrol at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of East Highway 276.

“She observed a pair of shoes sitting in the middle of the road,” Kilpatrick said.

Peacock began searching the area and found Blayock’s body on the shoulder of the highway near the intersection of Shore Line Drive. Blaylock was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Wayne Money.

“It appeared she had been struck by a motor vehicle,” Kilpatrick said, adding evidence recovered at the scene has resulted in a possible description of the vehicle.

“It appears it was possibly a Chevrolet pickup, from 2000 to 2003,” Kilpatrick said. The truck would have a damaged headlight on the right side and a one-foot piece of trim missing from under the headlight.

Kilpatrick said Blaylock may have been walking home from a bar in the area at the time she was struck. Services for Blaylock are under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home in Quinlan.

Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the West Tawakoni Police Department at 903-447-3605 or Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
