Dramatic weather change expected

GREENVILLE — The end of the month of April has meant sunny skies and warm temperatures across Hunt County and North Texas.

The start of the month of  May is expected to be an entirely different story.

Greenville recorded a high of 84 degrees Monday, but the highs are forecast to be about 30 degrees cooler Thursday and Friday.

There is also a chance for some severe weather in the region early Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service forecast was calling for a high near 83 again today, and a low around 62 tonight.

The high Wednesday is predicted to again rise into the 80s, with showers and thunderstorms moving into the area that night. Storms are said to be likely after 1 a.m. Thursday, with a low around 56 and winds shifting out of the northeast. Some of the storms could be severe, with large hail the main threat.

There is a 50 percent chance of more rain Thursday morning, with a high near 56 during the afternoon and winds gusting out of the north at up to 25 mph, then a 30 percent chance of showers Thursday night with a low around 39.

The high Friday is expected to reach 59 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
