Living her dream by inspiring others

COMMERCE —  Sharice Henry Chasi is on the roller coaster of her life.

She’s living her dream; and by doing so, she hopes to inspire and give hope to other people. She’s on a mission.

Chasi, formerly of Commerce, acted in, and produced, “Hiding In Plain Sight.” The film is a Christian-based movie which deals with homeless people and what they go through during their everyday lives. The film has already won numerous awards.

Chasi, along with well-known actress Irma P. Hall, will be promoting “Hiding In Plain Sight” and signing DVDs today from 1 to  3 p.m. at Family Video, located at 1409 Live Oak Street in Commerce.

The movie explores what happens when resources run out, unemployment is denied, and savings accounts are depleted. A young couple find themselves living in their car with their two young children.

“Everyone goes through financial issues at least once in their lives, but for me it hit home,” Chasi said. “The truth is, most of us are a paycheck away from homeliness. Like I always say, homelessness doesn’t necessarily have to be those who have addictions, mental illness and so on. Homelessness looks like me and you … I would even go so far to say that all of us know or have known someone who has been or is homeless, but have no idea they’re living that way.”

As both an actress and producer, Chasi says your job is to make sure business is taken care of. “At the end of the day, you are the last one to turn out the light. As an actress, you have to be open and vulnerable enough to allow the truth to come forth.

“I want to give the world hope and share the love of God. If I can change someone’s mind towards the slightest thought of Jesus Christ, then mission accomplished. I think my whole family has been waiting for my career to finally take off. They know that when I’m performing, I’m breathing. It’s who I am and what I’m purposed to be.”
